15 March 2009 Quote of the Day: "If you cannot find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?" Dogen I know that it may seem that I bring you mostly stories of a dismal nature. This is just an effort to shock your curiosity. If you know not what matters, then how are you to learn what's important to know before you leave this state? What you don't know can effect you. Simply ignoring a phenomena will not make it go away. An old Zen master once said, "always attempt to travel the road less traveled if you seek true enlightenment." This of coarse translated means that if you wish to grow in spirit you must challenge yourself. Some people challenge themselves physically by exercise. Some by working hard at their careers. I think that most of us would agree that life itself is a challenge enough at times. But when was the last time you challenged your own mind, your own beliefs, the very reasoning of WHY you believe the things you do. In poll after poll people are questioned about why they have sided one way or the other on a particular event. Once just a couple of unknown well documented facts are presented, most find themselves doubting what just a few seconds ago they were so sure about. See this in Challenge your self. Ask your self, what am I sure about? Then let go.... and try to relearn.... you just may find that reality is much different than what you thought it was just a few seconds ago.... There is a Zen saying ...... If you see the Buddha.... Kill the Buddha. Meditate on this for a few moments.......... 1st step of the Translation; You have a idea or an expectation of what the Buddha looks like. But this is your expectation and is not nesscessarily the Buddhas true state. So in able to see the Buddha as he truly is, you must clear your mind of all preconceived notions. Only when the mind is cleansed can the true nature of what you are seeking be reveled. 2nd Step of the Translation; Gather everything you think you know and discard it.... throw it away. Now you have made room for YOUR reality.... not someone else's...... It is a step be step process. This was know by the Egyptians and we find evidence of this system at Luxor. Notice how the left foot is forward. This indicates movement, which meant the evolving, growing man is in motion.... one step at a time. And again here. So... are you ready for your next step? Enjoy your Journey.......
